When I confronted them about the John Deere when picking up the pressure washer --their response was, well we did what you asked us .. we got it so it would start, that was an electrical issue ... okay .. well I'm not a mechanic, but I think it's more or less common sense that someone wants their item to work functionally, when they pick it up .. maybe they should've taken some extra time, and found out there was multiple issues with the John Deere Rider ... I would have paid for it ... But, it sounds like a case of being too busy, or let's shift it to what the customers words were .. he wanted it started .. so that's what we did .... and now it runs 10 feet, blows smoke, and stalls out ...

On to the John Deere, shame on me for not starting it immediately after I got it to make sure it worked properly ... I use this as a back up mower, and want to use it primarily as a snowplow in the winter, and I got it started and running about 1 week later after it was dropped off with the Simplicity .... it's not even running for 10 minutes, it blows all this smoke and stalls out ... since then, this is all it does ... and it appears oil is in the carb area leaking ... I go back to the store, I was told to try SeaFoam .. I buy a can .... it doesn't make a difference ...

The staff is very friendly and helpful. For a small hardware store they offer an impressive selection.

This review is for the Outdoor Power Equipment section of the store. I've been in the Capac area for almost 30 years.....I have not left any store in the area, as dissatisfied as this before ...

Next time I will do myself a favor, and drive an extra 15 minutes to Almont, and maybe getting a $7 part won't be a burden, or I might be told I have multiple issues with a rider the first time .. I don't think they will miss my business in Capac, and I won't miss going there ...

Great place.

The staff however has always been nice to me hence why I am giving the place 4 stars vs 3.

Then about a month later -- I get a brand new, never used, pressure washer delivered to my home .... right out of the box one of the nozzle tips is bent, and after 2 starts , the engine locks up, and it stuttered pressure during both starts ... I call the manufacturer, they advise me to take it to Capac Hardware for repair as they are an authorized service store, who can work on their equipment ...I drop it off there, reluctantly at this point... 2 days later, I'm told to come get it --I was told there was no oil in it, and that's what caused the engine to lock up.... strange thing is, oil came in it from delivery, and I placed more oil in it before taking it to Capac Hardware. I'm told they don't want to bother calling the manufacturer, as its more or less a burden, and or a waste of time, and I get a bill out of pocket for an item that wasn't 2 weeks old under warranty ... Also I was told --to just call the manufacturer about the bent nozzle as its not worth their time with that either ... well that's fine .. the nozzle tip is only $7, but once again, I go home with a not so good experience from Capac Hardware ...

For being a quaint hardware store in the middle of basically nowhere they have quite a bit. However the stock and barren location is reflected in the price, most items will have significant mark ups vs someplace like Home Depot.

... I have to call again and have it picked up ... Finally got it back, and it does what its supposed to do now ...

Cliff and his crew are very friendly and always helpful,

6 weeks ago, two of my riding lawnmowers were taken here ... A Simplicity and a John Deere .... The Simplicity needed a carb kit replacement (I actually bought the kit prior, and gave it to them during pick up). The John Deere would not start, as it did sit for some time (my fault)... I had asked for the carb kit to be put on the Simplicity, and to get the John Deere started up and running, so it would function as a snowplow in the winter time ... about 3 weeks goes by, and I get a call saying the riders will be dropped off and are done ... The Simplicity gets dropped off, and as its unloaded, it won't start ...they take it back ... they say the battery is fried ... (I just put a newer battery in, a week prior, supposedly the way the battery was positioned it had caused problems, I was told) .. they replaced the newer battery, that I just put in prior, with a used, not as good in my opinion, battery... then the following day --not even 24 hours later --I'm cutting the grass, the carb area leaks gas all over
